    • Supporting Hep C and HIV screening and linkage to care, and implement Hep C telemedicine in substance use treatment facilities
    • Providing viral hepatitis technical assistance to HIV Services
    • Engaging cross collaborations between the Viral Hepatitis Program and HIV programs to help identify vulnerable populations and discuss best practices, lessons learned and challenges.

Hepatitis C in NYC: 2022 Annual Report Surveillance Overview

  • Despite the decline, more than 86,000 people in NYC are estimated to live with chronic Hep C. In 2022:
    • 2,805 people newly reported with chronic Hep C
    • 90.8% of people ages 3 to 29 years newly reported with chronic Hep C in NYC were ages 20 to 29 years, new cases among young people are more likely to be recent infections.
    • Case investigations conducted of 62.3% of newly reported cases of chronic Hep C in people ages 18 to 34 years
    • Of people who were ever infected with Hep C in NYC from July 2014 to December 2021, 68.7% were cured or cleared.
