Job Description

  • The Viral Hepatitis Program does surveillance and reporting, policy, program implementation in areas of prevention, care and treatment, and provider and community outreach.
  • Provide clinical advice and review of training materials, funded programs and relevant research projects.
  • Develop and update clinical presentations.
  • Coordinate interactions between Clinical network and Liver Foundation and develop relationships with clinical providers and provider recruitment for networks and consultations.
  • In collaboration with partners, develop interventions to improve HCV treatment access at drug treatment programs.
  • Contribute to Quality Management Program and work with partners in implementing indicators.
  • Provide technical assistance to providers on screening, linkage to care and interpretation and implementation of public health guidelines.Represent the program inside and outside the Department.

 

Minimum Qual Requirements

For Assignment Level I (only physical, biological and environmental sciences and public health) A master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological or environmental science or in public health.
To be appointed to Assignment Level II and above, candidates must have:

  1. A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization; or
  2. A master’s degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization; or
  3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least a master’s degree in an appropriate field of specialization and at least two years of experience described in “2” above. Two years as a City Research Scientist Level I can be substituted for the experience required in “1” and “2” above.

NOTE:

Probationary Period
Appointments to this position are subject to a minimum probationary period of one year.

Preferred Skills

  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in provider education
  • Knowledge of viral hepatitis B or C
  • Demonstrated cultural competence with populations currently most affected by viral hepatitis
  • Experience working with professional level partners
  • Prior experience with provider training, coordination of workshops/trainings, and provision of technical assistance
  • Diplomatic ability to navigate within institutions with different needs
  • Computer experience
  • Ability to handle multiple and diverse assignments.
