Hepatitis B Virus Project Coordinator

 This position is responsible for conducting outreach and case-finding of contacts of HBV index patients, referring to HBV screening at ASC, following up with contacts who do not present for screening, and documenting results of field activities for each contact referral. The position conducts interviews with index HBV cases screened at ASC, elicits information on contacts, interviews contacts, and distributes incentives to index cases who refer and contacts who present for screening.

The position works closely with the Patient Navigator, the Testing Center Director and Testing Center Assistants to coordinate referral of contacts for screening and follow up of chronically-infected clients for care and treatment

The position ensures that uninfected, HBV-susceptible clients are offered the two-dose HBV vaccine Heplivax at ASC, and follows up to ensure the patient is fully vaccinated and has a protective immune response to vaccination.

.The Project Coordinator will work with the Communications Director to develop HBV print and radio education and awareness materials. They will establish commitments with HBV clinical care organizations willing to receive HBV referrals in each borough, and provide support to frontline staff to increase the organization’s capacity, and provide culturally competent HBV care to meet needs of the African-born community.

The position will be responsible for HBV activity and patient-level data collection, management, and reporting. The Project Coordinator will be the liaison in this project to African and Caribbean social, religious, business, and cultural organizations, which will participate in the recruitment and follow up of both index HBV cases and their contacts.

The Project Coordinator position requires at minimum a BS or BA degree, fluency in French and English, at least 2 years’ experience in community health education, interviewing,  case- finding and reporting for infectious disease.
