Outreach Coordinator at National Black Leadership Commission on AIDS
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with Director of Programs, FBOs and CBOs to conduct outreach and program development in communities known to be disproportionately at-risk for HIV infection and other disparities.
- Provide technical assistance, administrative and outreach support for faith-based and community based organizations.
- Develop and maintain linkages with governmental, civic and community based organizations.
- Assist with facilitation and training of HIV/Hepatitis C education programs.
- Prepare and submit monthly reports.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in HIV/AIDS field.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Knowledge of HIV/AIDS, STI’s Hepatitis C and other health disparities that impact the Black/African American community
- CDC or MDCH training in HIV Prevention and Education
- Certified HIV tester.
- Sensitivity to populations at increased risk for HIV acquisition (through injectable drug use, exposure to an intravenous drug user, high-risk sexual activities such as commercial sex, street, and homelessness)
- Sensitivity to ethnicity, culture, gender, sexual orientation, values, beliefs, and behaviors
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment
- Positive, professional, team-oriented attitude
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Travel Requirements: This position will require travel within the U.S.

Program Coordinator at NBLCA (Albany, NY & Nassau County, NY)
The National Black Leadership Commission on AIDS, Inc., (NBLCA) is hiring a Program Coordinator. The Program Coordinator will report to the Vice President of Administration, and lead in coordination of the assigned work in fulfillment of NBLCA’s Mission and implementation of funding contracts’ guidelines and compliance to ensure an effective approach to prevention, public policy, advocacy and impact in addressing HIV/AIDS and other health disparities with the focus on high-risk negatives. The program coordinator with work with faith and community based organizations in Albany, New York and Nassau County, New York to reduce the number of HIV infections and increase viral suppression.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred, plus 5 years of relevant employment involving HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C and other health disparities. Experience with the LGBTQ community.
- Planning and implementing health-based theory community and structural interventions; project planning; meeting facilitation and consensus building; program evaluation and outcome skills;
- Curriculum development; experience in conducting literature reviews and web-based research;
- Expert understanding of the structural and cultural issues related to HIV/AIDS prevention among African Americans, women, and MSM; ability
- Exemplary candidates will display an ability to manage multiple tasks using independent judgment and discretion; ability to work independently and accurately in a high-paced, deadline-oriented environment; ability to work under pressure while exercising discretionary judgment and making decisions when necessary with minimal direct supervision.
- High level proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel);
- Expert oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; expert public speaking and presentation skills;
Other duties and responsibilities as needed.
- Experience in HIV/AIDS related medical/social/testing/prevention issues, including addiction, homelessness, sexuality issues preferred.
- CDC or MDCH training in HIV Prevention and Education, HIV Counseling is preferred but may be obtained post-employment.
- Sensitivity to populations at increased risk for HIV acquisition (through injectable drug use, exposure to an intravenous drug user, high-risk sexual activities such as commercial sex, street, and homelessness).
