Job Description

JOB TITLE: Director of Advocacy and Communications

DEPARTMENT: Advocacy

REPORTS TO: President/Chief Program Officer

STATUS: Exempt

ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW:

BOOM!Health is an innovative, transformational community-based nonprofit organization in the Bronx, New York deeply committed to a vision of health, wellness and safety for all, particularly the needs of marginalized and stigmatized communities at highest risk of health disparities, substance use, and HIV/HCV. Formed in August 2013, BOOM!Health is the merger and strategic restructuring of two strong Bronx-based nonprofit organizations, CitiWide Harm Reduction and Bronx AIDS Services into a single, dynamic nonprofit organization with a consolidated operating budget of over $14 million and over 140 employees. BOOM!Health meets the needs of the communities in the South Bronx, and throughout New York City by providing prevention services, syringe access, health coordination, behavioral health, housing, legal services, food/nutrition, advocacy and wellness services to over 10,000 of the hardest to reach adult and youth populations. The Momentum Project, a congregate meal and food pantry program for homeless, chronically ill New Yorkers is a new partner affiliate of BOOM!Health, serving over 1,200 clients at sites throughout Manhattan and the South Bronx.
