Hepatitis C In NYC: 2023 Annual Report Surveillance Overview

  • New estimates of people living with Hep C are focused on RNA positive results compare to previous years, which are focused on positive antibody results.
  • People newly reported with Hep C in 2023 include both acute and chronic Hep C due to the implementation of changes in the definition of acute Hep C.
  • 40% of people newly reported with Hep C were missing race and ethnicity.
  • Hep C and HIV Coinfection RNA rates were higher compare to citywide data.

2023 Programmatic Outcomes: Community Partnerships and More

  • Partners trained 1,576 Hep B and Hep C providers, peers and navigators.
  • Navigators from the Check Hep C Patient Navigation Program educated and enrolled over 5,000 patients, of which 88% were linked to care and 68% were treated.
  • Navigators from the Check Hep C Peer Navigation Program educated over 15,000 patients, of which 26% were linked to care and 20% initiated treatment.
