Title: Hepatitis Clinical Capacity Building Program Assistant Intern (for Master students ONLY)

Viral Hepatitis Program at NYC Health Department

 Program Description:

The NYC Health Department, Bureau of Communicable Disease, Viral Hepatitis Program (VHP) works to reduce morbidity and mortality associated with Hepatitis B and C in NYC. The Capacity Building unit within VHP provides training to community-based organizations across NYC.

The Hepatitis Program Education and Training Intern will work with the Director of Training to upgrade existing curriculum, develop new training coursework and present materials to community members and health professionals throughout New York City

Clinical Practice Facilitation Program provides technical assistance, training and data reports to hepatitis providers in order to increase their capacity to screen, diagnose and treat NYC residents with hepatitis B or C.

Intern Responsibilities, will:

• Assist with meeting planning, meeting notes, and follow up items
• Further develop existing training courses re: viral hepatitis
• Support the research and development of new training courses
• In collaboration with VHP staff, conduct training courses
• Document training activities using Salesforce
• Report writing as needed
• Complete other tasks as assigned

Requirements:

1. Currently matriculated in a CUNY master’s program (MPH, MSW, MHA, etc).
2. Experienced at curriculum development
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and graphic design
4. Applicant must be interested in public health program implementation, health education and training
5. Comfort with public speaking: providing training, presentations at community meetings, and at meetings
6. Highly organized with attention to detail
7. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills
8. Ability to work both independently and within a team

Preferred Skills:

1. Interest in hepatitis B and C, harm reduction and working with disenfranchised populations
2. Knowledge or experience with Salesforce
