Hep C Coordinator at Harm Reduction Coalition

Provide training & capacity building services (CBS) on Hepatitis C and other drug user health issues. Lead in creating Harm Reduction Coalition (HRC) materials around drug user health. Provide Hepatitis C policy/advocacy.

Supervises: Selected volunteers and interns. Provide oversight to HRC consultants.

Duties and Responsibilities:

COEs (Center of Excellence) HCV/HIV & Drug User Health CBS:

  • In collaboration with Director CBS and CBS Program Evaluation Assistant coordinate the delivery of trainings and CBS under the NYSDOH COE Contracts
  • Deliver HCV, HCV/HIV and Drug User Health trainings and CBS as required (including classroom & distance learning)
  • In collaboration with Director CBS and CBS Program Coordinator recruit and evaluate facilitators/consultants for COE
  • In collaboration with Director CBS, CBS Program and Evaluation Assistant, monitor contract deliverables to insure contract compliance.
  • Participate in monthly contract calls with funders.
  • In collaboration with Director CBS and CBS Program Evaluation Assistant ensure all evaluation and reporting requirements are met

Materials:

  • Prepare promotional materials as needed (i.e. flyers, brochures, etc.)

Policy/Advocacy:

  • Develop and implement local and federal hepatitis C policy positions and strategy in collaboration with the Policy Director
  • Represent HRC in local, state and federal advocacy coalitions and meetings and in New York City Hepatitis C Task Force meetings
  • Build networks and strategic alliances of key stakeholders and organizations working to address hepatitis C among people who use drugs
  • Contribute to other Policy Department projects

General CBS:

  • Deliver trainings and CBS as required
  • In collaboration with Special Projects Coordinator and CBS Program Coordinator promote trainings and events using social media and creative outreach
  • In collaboration with Special Projects Coordinator maintain facebook, myspace, twitter, and online social media accounts
  • In collaboration with Special Projects Coordinator and Director of CBS, coordinate Online Training & Capacity Building Services events, webinars, etc.
  • Prepare promotional materials as needed (i.e. flyers, brochures, etc.)
  • Recommend facilitators to be used for future Training & Capacity Building Services, based on client feedback

HRC Activities

  • Attend staff and program meetings
  • National HRC Conference – Assist in coordination of conference activities, provide input into identification of speakers
  • Attend conferences, career and internship fairs, and other events to promote HRC
  • Contribute to grant writing opportunities that will help support the growth and development of the HRCCBS
  • Contribute to materials production, newsletter, training activities and special projects as needed.
  • Additional duties as necessary

Requirements

  • Degree in public health-related discipline and a minimum of five years “hand-on” experience working in capacity-building, prevention-oriented public health programs, HIV/STI, community-level services, and diverse constituents or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience facilitating trainings and CBS
  • Prior knowledge of harm reduction, drug user health and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) health issues
  • Experience with Event Coordination
  • Familiarity with marginalized populations and established commitment to cultural diversity and cultural competence is essential.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience in training curriculum design, development, and delivery
  • Familiarity with current technology: computers, networks and software, including Windows XP Professional programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel, Power Point, Publisher, Outlook and databases such as MS Access, WordPress, FileMaker Pro
  • Ability to prioritize, work semi-independently, and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Highly detail-oriented, well-organized, and able to meet deadlines
  • Experience with online learning and learning management systems.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and oral communications skills;
  • Working knowledge of digital communications
  • Experience developing web and email-based communications and engagement strategies
