2026 Hepatitis Awareness Month Recap

Commemorating National Adult Hep B Vaccination Awareness Day (April 30), Hepatitis Awareness Month (May), National Hispanic Hepatitis Awareness Day ( May 15), National Hep C/HIV Co-infection Day (May 17) and National Testing Day (May 19)

To mark National Hepatitis Awareness Month in May, Hispanic Federation and Hep Free NYC teamed up for the 14th Annual Steps of City Hall Press Event to raise Hep B & C awareness.

On May 19th, 3 city council members, Lynn Schulman (District 29), Carl Wilson (District 3), and Virginia Maloney (District 4) and over 160 Hepatitis Champions attended the Steps of City Hall to raise awareness on the importance of increased testing, access to care, and treatment of Hep B and C! Hep Free NYC partners gathered to call an end to viral hepatitis in NYC! Many thanks to all our viral hepatitis speakers for advocating and sharing their linkage to care stories.

To continue this awareness effort, Hep Free NYC and Hispanic Federation, will be honoring World Hepatitis Day 2026 on July 28th in the Bronx and Brooklyn.

In collaboration with ETE, Hep Free NYC and Hispanic Federation will be joining the Bronx Anti-Stigma March and Health Fair on July 28th from 10AM – 3PM. Join us at the Lou Gehrig Plaza to provide Hep B and C education and screening to Bronx residents. RSVP here.

On that same day, Housing Works and Hep Free NYC and Hispanic Federation will be hosting the Brooklyn Hepatitis Screening & Outreach event from 11AM – 3PM at Restoration Plaza to provide Hep B and C education and testing to Brooklyn residents. RSVP here.
