The STD Control Branch is recruiting to fill a Research Data Analyst IV (Senior Epidemiologist) position. The Research Data Analyst IV position is assigned to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) Control Branch, serving as a senior epidemiologist to support the design and implementation of prevention activities related to HIV, STDs, and viral hepatitis (especially hepatitis C virus (HCV)). The individual will design, implement, and evaluate core and enhanced public health surveillance projects, including conducting analysis matching variables across multiple complex datasets (such as HIV, STD, and HCV registries, birth and death records, hospitalizations, etc.). The individual will lead the development of innovative informatics and data collection, management, and analysis systems, and will identify and implement strategies for improving existing systems. The individual will develop protocols and guidelines and provide information and technical assistance to support local health jurisdiction, community-based organization, clinical, and other program partners in their application. The individual also assures completion of project deliverables, prepares graphs, reports, and publications, and participates in decision-making on budgets, hiring, and resource allocation. The Senior Epidemiologist may supervise junior epidemiologists, data analysts, and program evaluators. This position represents California in HIV, STD, and viral hepatitis-related national conferences, meetings, and work groups; may require the use of a personal or rental vehicle.
