Data Manager: Substance Abuse Screening

The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene has an opening for a full-time Data Manager at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC DOHMH). The NYC DOHMH is one of the world’s oldest and largest public health agencies. It has a single mission: to protect and promote the health of all New Yorkers. The Data Manager will work in collaboration across project sites, under the direction and guidance of the NYC Bureau of STD Control (BSTDC) Director of Special Projects. Substance abuse Screening, Brief Intervention, Referral, and Treatment (SBIRT) services delivered in STD clinics operated by BSTDC will be the primary focus of this position.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Masters degree in Public Health, Public Administration, clinical and social sciences, or a related field; and a minimum of two years experience in the management of public health, health care and/or implementation of new procedures in primary care settings.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for the implementation of the NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse grant to provide STD clinic patients with the opportunity for substance abuse intervention.
- Provide guidance to research assistant conducting 6 month follow-up interviews with participants of project.
- Responsible for the training, support and technical assistance among Behavioral Health staff within BSTDC
- Oversee data collection and use for the project
- Assessment of the project evaluation
- Curricula development
- Adhere to all data collection and reporting requirements from local and federal funding sources
- Run regular data reports using SQL, Access and Microsoft Excel
- Prepare written reports and papers and provide oral presentations at conferences and other meetings
- Assist with policy work related to the initiative, including regulatory reviews and service gaps assessments.
Preferred skills include;
- Excellent communications skills; verbal and written
- program-related development, implementation, and analytical skills;
- experience, including data collection and training delivery.
- Knowledge and experience with the range of services and systems addressing alcohol problems and other drug use in New York City
- knowledge of public policies, government agencies (city and state).
- Strong computer skills including; MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access, SQL, and Statistical Analysis Software (SAS).
