The American Liver Foundation is seeking an Accountant to maintain the following general ledger accounts – Cash, Accounts Receivable and all Revenue accounts. Will interact with Division staff and Home Office Development Department to problem solve deposit reporting issues.

Title: Accountant
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer
Work Environment: From time to time, historical papers will need to be boxed and sent to storage or shredded. Should be able to lift 20 pounds.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the recording of revenue receipts (check and credit card donations) into the MIP accounting system. Reconcile monthly all bank statements and recommends entry to post items necessary to complete the reconciliation.
  2. Interact with Home Office and Division personnel on issues relating to bank deposit procedures, accounts receivable, credit card charges and monthly closings of revenue general ledger accounts.
  3. Prepare and entering month end journal entry for credit card charges into the MIP accounting system.
  4. Perform monthly account analysis of General Ledger accounts, as assigned.
  5. Prepare Daily Cash reports and weekly summary of special events.
  6. Enter Home Office and Division budgets and quarterly forecasts into MIP accounting system.
  7. Assist in the year end audit in the preparation of the General Ledger and audit work papers.
  8. Assist the Ass’t Controller and other department personnel in other areas as necessary.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required,
  • Applicant should have at least 2 years experience in accounting (public, non-profit or private industry)
  • Candidates should have a good working knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel and should have experience in working with an electronic accounting package.
