Annual Salary Range: $52,000.00 – $55,000.00

Job Summary:

The Harm Reduction Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day management of the harm reduction programs which include the Harm Reduction Services (HRS) and the Syringe Services Program (SSP). The Coordinator manages the work of the members of the harm reduction services team. The Coordinator is also responsible for coaching, resolving issues, and serving as a link between team members and upper management. In addition, the Coordinator will provide the following:

Primary Duties & Responsibilities include, but not limited to: 

  • Provide regular and consistent supervision, evaluation, professional development, and oversight of HRS and SSP team members
  • Assist with the monitoring and management of the BOOM!Health Harm Reduction Center
  • Able to develop work schedules for the harm reduction team
  • Set individual staff monthly and annual performance goals in direct correlation to contract deliverables
  • Ensure that each team member understands their job function, their duties, and expected performance goals
  • Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching
  • Assist with the development and regular updates of the HRS and SSP daily schedule
  • Assist with scheduling of the mobile SSP fixed site locations, peer specialist schedules, and outreach activities and locations
  • Conduct Community Mapping exercises to address the needs of the South and North Bronx communities by identifying new locations to provide services
  • Manage syringe litter clean-up events and provide guidance to the park clean-up team
  • Assist with Quality Assurance (QA) activities and ongoing review of program activity logs and documentation
  • Establish relationships with outside service providers through Letters of Agreement, Memorandum of Understanding, and Linkage Agreements

Qualifications/Criteria:

  • Working knowledge of harm reduction theory and practice
  • Experience with the provision of harm reduction services to active drug users, the homeless, and sex workers
  • Proven experience as a manager
  • Maintain personnel supervision records
  • Pass on information from upper management to employees and vice versa
  • Prepare and submit performance reports and performance appraisals
  • Participate in the interview process and training of new employees
  • Good writing skills are required
  • Plan agency outreach strategies, times, locations, and activities
  • Ensure adherence to legal and company policies and procedures and undertake disciplinary actions if the need arises
  • Responsible for ordering, receiving, and safe storage of harm reduction supplies
  • Working knowledge of AIRS and eShare
  • Good knowledge of MS Office
  • Demonstrated commitment to advocacy and activism, particularly in the crises of COVID-19, HIV/AIDS, homelessness, and drug policy
  • Represent the agency at meetings
  • Attend all required training
  • Assign team members to required trainings
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Able to work a flexible schedule when necessary, including occasional Saturday’s
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred
  • Valid NYS driver’s license (3 years NYS driving experience)

Education:

Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Not required with 2 or more years of management experience
