South Bronx World Hepatitis Day Outreach & Screening Event
On August 14th, 2024, 13 Hep Free NYC community partner organizations commemorated World Hepatitis Day and National African American Hep C Action Day at the Roberto Clemente Plaza in the South Bronx. Hep Free NYC reached 520 New Yorkers.
During the event, partners administered free Hep B, Hep C, and HIV tests and distributed educational information about other services for people living with or at–risk for Hep B or C. Additionally, partners distributed at–home HIV tests and overdose prevention kits with Narcan to New Yorkers.
At the event at least,
- 13 Hep C tests, 7 Hep B tests, and 6 HIV tests were conducted
- 71 Narcan kits were distributed and
- 10 at–home HIV test kits were distributed.
