Job Description:
The primary function of the Certified Recovery Peer Advocate is facilitating outreach with individuals currently in our new OASAS Inpatient detox and rehabilitation program under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional. Utilizing their recovery expertise, professional training, and lived experience, peers boost individuals’ engagement in treatment and commitment to recovery. CRPAs also connect patients to community-based recovery supports consistent with treatment, recovery, and discharge plans. Certified Peer Recovery Advocates duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Non-clinical crisis support for our patients in our detox and rehab units ensuring they remain in treatment
- Educating ACI patients on various modes of recovery/next level of care
- Raising awareness of existing social and other support services
- Linking ACI patients to formal recovery supports
- Assist in the review and discussion of the peer’s personal self-directed recovery plan
- Educate program participants about various pathways of recovery
- Model coping skills
- Attend Supervision/Staff meetings as appropriate
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED
- NYS Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA)
- Knowledge of the substance use disorder recovery process
- Computer competent
- Cultural and Trauma Sensitive
The following are considered a plus:
- Prior experience working as a Certified Recovery Peer Advocate
- Experience working with persons with co-occurring mental health issues
- Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR, i.e. InSync)
- Experience in documenting Wellness/Recovery Plans
- Foreign language fluency
ACI Inpatient Detox and Rehab is a 180-bed facility that is an OASAS Certified 816 Medically Supervised Withdrawal Service (MSWS) and OASAS Certified part 818 Inpatient Rehabilitation program located in a new state of the art facility located in the heart of Brooklyn, NY.
