The New York State Department of Health Clinical Education Initiative’s Hepatitis C and Drug User Health Center of Excellence invites you to apply to the upcoming August 2021 preceptorship!

This application is open to all New York State Medical Providers (MDs, DOs, PAs & NP’s). This entire preceptorship is virtual (including virtual shadowing via tele-health based out of Reach Medical which is in Ithaca, NY).

What does Preceptorship program include?
The goal of the Hepatitis C and Drug User Health Preceptorship program is for participants to build their capacity to provide comprehensive, stigma-free drug user health services including Hep C treatment. This clinical training program includes 5 hours of didactic learning taught by content experts (CME provided) and 4 hours of VIRTUAL experiential learning at Reach Medical in Ithaca, New York which provides patient-centered drug user health treatment.

Learning Objectives:
After completing the preceptorship program, participants will be able to:

  • Conduct hepatitis C pre-treatment evaluation, medication regimen selection, on-treatment monitoring and post-treatment follow-up.
  • Employ innovative strategies in opioid use disorder care and office-based medication assisted based  treatment.
  • Synthesize approaches to integrating hepatitis C and medication assisted treatment in the same care setting.
  • Integrate harm reduction principles into the care of people who use drugs.

NYS clinical professionals (MDs, DOs, NPs, PAs)
