Hepatitis C Basics

Audience: Community members, patients, consumer or staff at community-based organizations
Description: This presentation answers key questions related to hepatitis C including: What is hepatitis C? What are the risks for getting infected with hepatitis C? Who should get tested for hepatitis C? What happens if hepatitis C is left untreated? How to avoid getting infected with hepatitis C?

Intro to Viral Hepatitis
(English | 4 hours | NYC Health Department, Queens or Your Location)

Offered by the NYC Health Department

Audience: Case managers, patient navigators, and other non-clinical providers
Description: This half-day course will provide health and social service providers with an overview of viral hepatitis. The course will specifically focus on hepatitis A, B, and C, exploring risk, transmission, and prevention strategies for each. This training will also highlight hepatitis C & HIV coinfection, hepatitis C testing and treatment basics.

Hepatitis C Patient Navigation

Offered by the NYC Health Department or the Harm Reduction Coalition

Audience: Non-clinical providers
Credit: 7 CASAC Renewal Credits
Description:This one-day training is designed to provide patient navigators, caseworkers, test counselors and other prevention counselors, with a basic overview of hepatitis C as well as an introduction to successful patient navigation strategies used by current hepatitis C patient navigation programs.

Preceptorship in Hepatology
(4 hours | Multiple locations throughout NYC)

Audience: Clinical providers (MD, DO, PA, NP, RN, PharmD)

Description: A half-day preceptorship for clinical providers who have previously participated in an ELF Clinical Provider Training Series, and are interested in expanding their knowledge and skills in the diagnosis and treatment of hepatitis B and C. Participants will observe a senior hepatologist or liver disease specialist caring for patients with liver diseases during this half-day preceptorship. Participants will have opportunities to discuss each case with the preceptor throughout the day.
