Both hepatitis A and B are viral infections that can damage your liver, possibly resulting in liver cancer or death.
Hepatitis A is spread when feces from an infected person (even in very small amounts) gets into another person’s mouth. Hep A can be spread through rimming, or contact with fingers or toys that have been in or around the anus of an infected person.
Hepatitis B is spread through blood, semen, or vaginal fluids. It can easily be spread during sex, or through sharing needles, cookers, pipes, or other equipment for drug use.
