Description:

Social services providers are in a unique position to offer support to clients living with or at risk for Hep C . This two-hour webinar provides an overview of Hep C transmission, disease progression, testing and treatment.

Objectives:

• Recall basic facts about who is affected by Hep C in New York State.
• Recall basic facts about the functions of the liver and how liver damage affects the body.
• Describe how Hep C is and is not transmitted.
• Describe to clients the spectrum of illness for Hep C.
• Describe the two-step testing algorithm for Hep C.
• Describe the goals of Hep C treatment.

Intended Audience:

Non-physician health and human services providers including case managers, social workers, patient navigators, and peer workers.
