About CEI: 

The Clinical Education Initiative (CEI), a New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute program, offers free continuing medical education to enhance the capacity of New York State’s diverse healthcare workforce to deliver high-quality healthcare services and improve patient health outcomes. CEI’s Hep C and Drug User Health Center of Excellence enhances provider capacity through webinars, trainings, intensive preceptorship program, technical assistance and more!

Learning Objectives: 

  1. Describe the psychiatric comorbidities of persons with substance use
  2. Identify the common barriers to psychiatric care for people who use drugs
  3. Translate a harm reduction decision making framework to the management of co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders
  4. Explain practical strategies to provide psychiatric care for people who use drugs in a primary care setting
