Communications Committee Meeting Highlights | 6-20-2024

Committee Mission:

Develops Hep Free NYC social media strategy and posts information/resources on the Hep Free NYC website and social platforms. As well as promote and engage in outreach for Hep Free NYC planned events, pre-event promotion and post-event documenting successes on social media platforms.

Hepatitis Awareness Month Debrief

  • Twitter Chat participation and engagement lower than recent years
    • Research and Re-evaluate Twitter chat expectations and goals
  • Survey social media platforms used by community partners and members
  • Build relationships and share events with City Council members
    • Share with council members an estimate date as soon as planning begins in January
  • Share HAM events prior to increase press coverage
    • Next year, designate communications committee to take lead for HAM press with Hispanic Federation (lead would need to attend HAM planning committee to provide updates and will be point of contact related to press topic)
  • Social Media Strategy:
    • Alignment of messaging
    • Personal Content: create full or part series on client, provider, peer worker or navigator experience
    • Strategy idea: when posting event pictures, add a brief summary

Action Plan

  • Survey community partners about social media usage and preference.
  • Convene with community partners to begin planning for a World Hepatitis Day event
