SUMMARY:Beating Cancer through Hepatitis Elimination: Working to Reduce NCDs (World Hepatitis Alliance)
DESCRIPTION:Beating Cancer through Hepatitis Elimination: Working to Reduce NCDs\nWednesday\, May 21 | 2:30 – 4 AM\n\nRSVP \nDescription:\nNoncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and communicable diseases are inextricably linked\, but the connection is often overlooked. Many deaths could be averted by preventing the communicable diseases that lead to NCDs like cancer. The World Hepatitis Alliance\, the Coalition for Global Hepatitis Elimination (CGHE)\, the Medicines Patent Pool and the Infectious Disease Alliance (IDA)\, with technical support from the World Health Organization (WHO)\, are co-hosting this event to explore the connection between communicable diseases and cancer and discover how the growing mortality from cancer and NCDs can be addressed through better integration. As part of the session\, the World Hepatitis Alliance will launch a white paper on liver cancer and chronic hepatitis which sets out a series of policy recommendations which could be transformative in the prevention and early diagnosis of liver cancer. \nRSVP
