  • 2nd Annual Ken Zebrowski Memorial Fund Hepatitis C Awareness Walk. May 12th, 9am-11am. Congers Lake Memorial Park 6 Gilchrest Road Congers, NY 10920.  Former New York State Assemblyman Kenneth Peter Zebrowski passed away in March 2007 at the age of 61 from the  Hepatitis C virus.

  • Signing letter of support and thanks to our champions in Congress for introducing the Viral Hepatitis Testing Act. NVHR.
  • Campaign Hep B: Stop Letting Americans Die of a Completely Preventable Disease. Created by Team HBV and petition through
  • The One & Only Campaign is a public health campaign, led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Safe Injection Practices Coalition (SIPC), to raise awareness among patients and healthcare providers about safe injection practices. The campaign aims to eradicate outbreaks resulting from unsafe injection practices.
  • Sign Petition to encourage the Federal Government to Fund Syringe Exchange. In December 2011, the U.S. Congress established a ban on the use of federal funds to support syringe exchange programs. This reinstated a previous ban on federal funds for domestic programs and established a new ban for global programs.  In response to the federal ban, several advocates have drafted a Syringe Exchange Position Statement condemning the ban, while emphasizing the efficacy and effectiveness of these programs.
  • Demand a Plan to End Hepatitis C in New York. VOCAL New York, along with other allies in fight to address hepatitis C in New York State, are planning another advocacy day in the Albany to demand a statewide plan to diagnose and link to care everyone living with hepatitis C. Advancements in testing and treatment options provide New York the opportunity to tackle the hepatitis C epidemic if state government comes together to form a plan now. When: TBD (before the end of the legislative session) Where: New York State capitol in Albany. For More Info Contact / 646321-5282.
  • Public Forum on the NYPD. Join the Police Reform Organizing Project this Thursday, May 3, for a public forum featuring former NYPD officers speaking about their experiences on the job and presenting their critique of current NYPD policies and tactics.

  • Free HCV Rapid Test Kits through its New Statewide HCV Rapid Testing Program. The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) AIDS Institute is pleased to announce the availability of free HCV Rapid Test Kits through its New Statewide HCV Rapid Testing Program. HCV rapid test kits will be available to programs statewide that demonstrate the infrastructure to support HCV rapid testing. This infrastructure includes a valid CLIA permit and linkages with providers that at a minimum conduct HCV diagnostic testing (HCV RNA by PCR). Contact:

Advocacy Success!
Funding was approved in the NYS budget for Medicaid Coverage of wrap-around services for Hep C Patients. Coverage includes: Client outreach, identification, and recruitment,hepatitis C education and counseling,coordination of care and adherence to treatment, assistance in obtaining appropriate entitlement services, peer support and other supportive services!
