His research interests are in HIV-related co-morbidities and biomedical HIV and STI prevention. He completed his Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He is currently pursuing a Master’s of Science in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Pennsylvania focused on the impact of STIs on risk of Hep C among people with HIV. \nRSVP

DESCRIPTION:Beating Cancer through Hepatitis Elimination: Working to Reduce NCDs\nWednesday\, May 21 | 2:30 – 4 AM\n\nRSVP \nDescription:\nNoncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and communicable diseases are inextricably linked\, but the connection is often overlooked. Many deaths could be averted by preventing the communicable diseases that lead to NCDs like cancer. The World Hepatitis Alliance\, the Coalition for Global Hepatitis Elimination (CGHE)\, the Medicines Patent Pool and the Infectious Disease Alliance (IDA)\, with technical support from the World Health Organization (WHO)\, are co-hosting this event to explore the connection between communicable diseases and cancer and discover how the growing mortality from cancer and NCDs can be addressed through better integration. As part of the session\, the World Hepatitis Alliance will launch a white paper on liver cancer and chronic hepatitis which sets out a series of policy recommendations which could be transformative in the prevention and early diagnosis of liver cancer. \nRSVP

Participants will become familiar with current guidelines regarding treatment\, issues relating to treatment access\, and patient assistance resources.  \nObjectives:\nBy the end of this webinar\, participants will be able to: \n\nDescribe the recent progress in treatment options for patients living with Hep C (shorter duration\, fewer side effects\, better health outcomes).\nDescribe the importance of engaging in primary care\, regardless of the client’s intent to undergo treatment.\nIdentify strategies to support clients as they prepare for and engage in Hep C treatment.\nDefine sustained virologic response (SVR).\nDiscuss strategies to address the risk of reinfection with clients who achieve SVR.\n\nIntended Audience:\nAll non-physician health and human services providers. \nQuestions?
