DESCRIPTION:HIV & Hep C Co-Infection\nWednesday\, September 17 | 10 AM – 12 PM\nRSVP\nDescription:\n\nMore than 25% of people living with HIV in the United States are co-infected with the Hep C. Among people who acquired HIV as a result of injection drug use\, the rates of HIV/Hep C co-infection may be as high as 90%. Hep C screening is recommended for all persons living with HIV. \nThis 90-minute webinar from the Regional Training Center is for health and human service providers who work with people living with HIV and who need updated information about HIV/Hep C co-infection in order to provide effective services to their clients. \nObjectives:\nBy the end of this webinar\, participants will be able to: \n\nRecall basic information about the liver and Hep C\, including transmission\, prevention\, course of illness\, screening and treatment\nCounsel their HIV positive client about the importance of knowing their Hep C status\nDescribe how co-infection with HIV and Hep C affects the progression of each disease;\nRecall current trends and improvements in treatment for people who are co-infected with HIV and Hep C\nList at least three additional service needs of people with HIV who are also co-infected with Hep C\n\nIntended Audience:\nAny health or human services provider or HIV\, Hep C or Harm Reduction Peer Worker \nQuestions?
