Hep Free NYC Advocacy Training For Eliminating Viral Hepatitis in NYC  Wednesday, November 20 (2 - 4:30 PM) Korean American Association of Greater New York: 149 West 24th Street, #6th Floor, New York Light refreshments will be provided. The New York City and State budget and legislative sessions are approaching! Join us to learn valuable strategies and techniques for engaging your community and our representatives, current policy and advocacy opportunities, the process for requesting funding for your organization or cause. You are in a powerful position to engage elected officials to support legislation and funding that will support your community, profession, organization, and patients.Topics will include: Your role as an advocate: Your story, Your communities, Your ask. How to represent and engage your community State and City advocacy opportunities NY State Hep C Elimination Plan – Attend upcoming Community Advisory Board meeting, tentatively scheduled for Dec. 12th at Housing Works, 57 Willoughby Street, Brooklyn, 11201 NY City Council bill: Eliminating Viral Hepatitis in NYC (Int 1703-2019):The proposed legislation would require that the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene develop a plan to eliminate viral hepatitis in New York City by the year 2030. Hearing in December TBA (2 minute testimonies) New York City Council Viral Hepatitis Initiative: In fiscal year 2020 this initiative provides approximately 1.9 million to fund 31 community organizations. Community advocates work together to request funding for this initiative each year.
