Tackling Stigma and Promoting Treatment:
Effective Communications to Spark Action for Audiences At-Risk for OUD
Aug 26, 2020, 10:00 AM in Pacific Time (the US and Canada)
Pain impacts tens of millions of Americans and opioid medications that are effective for many people with pain are subject to misuse, addiction, and overdose. To effectively tackle opioid misuse as a public health challenge, communications campaigns must address quite a few variables: How might we increase openness to non-opioid alternatives for pain management? How might we increase knowledge of treatment options for opioid use disorder (OUD)? How might we reduce the stigma associated with opioid misuse to make it easier to seek treatment? Join us to unpack the latest thinking on these challenges and highlights from our research in the field.
In this 1-hour digital learning experience, we will highlight:
- Recent research findings on audience misconceptions and stigma around non-opioid therapies and treatment for OUD
- Best practices for applying behavior change communication strategies to promote the seeking of treatment and non-opioid alternatives
- Easily accessible tools to implement with your community to shift audience norms around preventing and addressing OUD
