Training | Overdose Prevention and Response Training @ NYC Health Department
September 12 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm EDT
This training will teach you how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose. You will become a Certified Opioid Overdose Responder and can receive an Overdose Rescue Kit with naloxone–a medication that can save someone’s life by reversing the effects of an opioid overdose.
The training runs for approximately one hour, and kits will be dispensed directly following the training. This training is offered 2-3 times a month at the Health Department’s Long Island City office and is open to anyone who wants to learn how to respond to an overdose; you do not need to be associated with an organization to attend.
Please note: Organizations may send key staff members to be trained, but no more than two naloxone kits should be issued per organization (individuals may still get their own kit for personal use if they would like). If more than 15 people need training, please email firstname.lastname@example.org set up a training at your organization.
Opioid Overdose Prevention Program (OOPP) Staff: If your organization is a registered OOPP and you would like to be trained in DISPENSING naloxone, this is not the right training to take. Please contact us by emailing email@example.com to receive the Training of Dispensers (TOD) calendar.
