Hep B Educational Resources for African Communities
Tuesday, May 11
3 – 4 PM EST
May is Hepatitis Awareness Month! Join Hep B United and the Coalition Against Hepatitis for People of African Origin for a webinar on educational hepatitis B resources for African communities. These materials, which include PowerPoint presentations, flip charts, testing resources, and takeaway cards, were created as part of the CDC’s Know Hep B campaign. They are targeted toward community health educators and physicians, who can use them as a tool for raising hepatitis B awareness and encouraging vaccination, testing, and treatment, all in a culturally appropriate manner. The resources are available in French, Swahili, Amharic, and Arabic.
Panelists from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the African Services Committee will discuss Know Hepatitis B campaign resources for community health workers working within African communities and community-based hepatitis B prevention initiatives. Additionally, hepatitis B activist and storyteller Bright Ansah will share his personal experiences with hepatitis B and highlight the need for greater awareness, education, and resources about hepatitis B in African communities. We hope you can join to learn more about these resources and how to use them in your own community!
