Conference | 2019 Summit: The Sexual Health of Immigrant Latino Gay and Bisexual Men @ CUNY Law School

October 4, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm EDT

Immigrant Latino Gay and Bisexual (LGB) men experience their sexuality and sexual identity at the crossroads of multiple socio-cultural-sexual worlds, e.g., their home country, the Latino enclaves in NYC, and US mainstream gay culture.

Furthermore, immigrant LGB men must negotiate these different sexual worlds within other health and social needs related to immigration, e.g., legal status, inconsistent employment, lack of health insurance, and discrimination. These factors often result on increased HIV/STI risk taking, inconsistent STI screening, and other sexual health ailments.

To develop culturally compelling sexual health services, we must understand better the cross-cultural variations on the meanings of same-sex sexuality, orientation, and practices.

On October, 4th, 2019, 9am – 4pm, we will hold a summit to examine the sexual health service needs of immigrant LGB men and the most effective and relevant strategies to provide these services within a socio-cultural perspective.

Register Here.

The summit seeks to engage stakeholders across a wide range of experiences, including community members, public health officials, service providers, researchers, or community leaders.

We expect the proceedings will inform effective and appropriate services, research, and policy, and advocacy planning.

A day for community leaders, providers, researchers, & health officials to discuss effective and relevant strategies to address the sexual health needs of immigrant Latino gay & bisexual men in NYC.
