Hep Free NYC planning and activities are guided by the NYC Hep C Task Force and NYC Hep B Coalition leadership groups.
Team HBV NYC
A NYC chapter of the national Team HBV student initiative. Students take a leadership role in planning awareness days and creative awareness and educational activities.
Hep C Prevention in Youth
Hepatitis C is on the rise in young people due to an increase in prescription medication addiction and transition to intra-nasal and injection drug use. Hep Free NYC is collecting information, tools and resources to form an effective prevention strategy, as well as best support community partners in prevention.
Hep Free HOPE Team
The Hep Free HOPE Team is a coalition of young people engaging in outreach and education to prevent the spread of Hep C among their peers.
The initiative serves to engage and unite the LGBTQ community in advancing viral hepatitis awareness, screening, and access to care through education, outreach, advocacy, and innovative projects.
Connecting Faith Based Organizations, and those with interest and experience in Faith Based outreach, to raise awareness about hepatitis in faith communities.
Public Education Committee
Committee members educate the public about Hepatitis through presentations, tabling at health fairs, and distribution of NYC Health Department Hepatitis resources.
Hep C Consumer Committee
This committee brings together Hep C patients to ensure their voice is represented within the Hep C Task Force. Attendees learn about current medication treatment options, policy updates, and how to advocate for affordable and accessible Hepatitis treatment.
Coalition against Hepatitis in People of African Origin (CHIPO) NYC
An NYC Chapter of the national CHIPO initiative. CHIPO aims to raise awareness about viral hepatitis in the African born community.
Awareness Day Planning Committee
A group of Hep Free NYC leaders who come together to plan annual awareness events including: National Hepatitis Testing Day, National Hispanic Hepatitis Awareness Day, African American Hep C Action Day, and World Hepatitis Day.
Guides the Hep Free NYC communications strategy and activities.
Patient Navigator Network
A network of professionals working in the role of patient navigator. The network met monthly to tour leading NYC hepatitis medical centers, share experience and work towards successful linkage to care and treatment.
Personal Stories Workshop
Group of people with lived experience of hepatitis B or hepatitis C that are interested in developing their own personal story to share to generate awareness or engage in advocacy. Hep Health Care Access Work Group
Bi-monthly meetings focused on overcoming barriers to healthcare access, insurance coverage and medication coverage. Meetings currently on hold.
Caribbean Hep B & C Work Group

A quarterly meeting to discuss Hep C advocacy related to testing and linkage to care. Organized by the Harm Reduction Coalition.
Hep C & Mental Health Initiative
Developed the Psycho-social Readiness & Preparation for Hep C Treatment (PREP-C) Online Tool.
Syringe Exchange and Law Enforcement Relationship Building Project
Developed tools, interventions and training to encourage law enforcement not to interfere with syringe exchange activities. Now a training at Harm Reduction Coalition.
Peer Delivered Syringe Exchange Network
Plan for first conference born in the Task Force. Now managed by IDUHA.

A monthly support group in Coney Island run by patient advocate Greg Romenski (firstname.lastname@example.org).
NYC Hep B Universal Birth Dose Initiative
Hep Free NYC is committed to eliminating perinatal hepatitis B transmission. In alignment with the National Hep B Birth Dose Honor Roll initiative, this initiative aims to promote universal hepatitis B birth dose vaccination at NYC’s 39 birthing centers.
